Tottenham Hotspur could reignite their interest in signing Saint-Etienne goalkeeper Etienne Green, according to French journalist Didier Bigard.
The Lowdown: Green profiled
The shot-stopper was born and raised in Colchester, but has never played for an English club and has so far spent his entire career over in France.
The 22-year-old had been linked with a move to the Lilywhites, alongside Premier League rivals West Ham, 12 months ago, but no deal ever came to fruition.
However, after a frustrating start to the season, he could soon be looking to seal a switch away from the continent, with N17 a possible destination.
The Latest: Spursâ second chance?
According to Bigard (via Sport Witness), Spurs came close to signing Green last year but he decided to remain at Saint-Etienne, and Fabio Paratici may now get a second chance to land him.
âMentally affected, if not drowned by his red cards, which are the result of his hazardous rushing out and his defence deserting him, Green has lost the carelessness that was his strength. Not sure if he finds it again, but if he does, he will build the character of every good goalkeeper, and doors will maybe open again.

The Verdict: One to avoid?
Tottenham will be looking to sign a long-term replacement for Hugo Lloris, but Green isnât the ideal candidate, and therefore a move shouldnât be pursued.
The âperfectâ keeper, as dubbed by former FC Nantes star Mickael Landreau, has only kept five clean sheets throughout his 35 career appearances and has no senior international experience, having represented England U21s just twice last year.
Having been sent off on three occasions already this term, Green doesnât appear to be the right man for Spurs to have between the sticks, and the search for their captainâs successor should be taken elsewhere to someone with more composure and experience.
